MATCH PREVIEW | Reserves clash with Tigers in double header

Leeds Rhinos Reserves are on the brink of confirming their place in the 2025 Reserves Grand Final as Chev Walker's side takes on Castleford Tigers as part of Saturday's double header at The Jungle, kick off 5.30pm.
An almost spotless 2025 season has seen the side win nine out of ten games to sit two points clear at the top of the Reserves league table on 18 points, whilst Warrington and Wigan chase them on 16 points. All three clubs have two games left in their seasons, and as the Wolves and Warriors meet this weekend at Victoria Park, a win for the Rhinos either against the Tigers or Bradford at the start of September would confirm their place in their first Reserves Final since the competition returned in 2022.
Both Wigan and Warrington were unable to defeat the Rhinos during their current run of five consecutive wins. After suffering their sole defeat of the campaign so far against Hull, the Rhinos responded by posting 60 points on Wigan at Robin Park before 20 points from Jack Sinfield helped steer the club to a 44-12 final score against the Wolves at AMT Headingley too in June. Further results against Wakefield, Hull KR and another 60-point outing against Salford Red Devils have kept the side in the driving seat for a Grand Final spot, which they hope to confirm against their Yorkshire rivals.
As has been the case throughout the season, head coach Walker has been unafraid to mix first-team talent with some of the club's rising Academy stars. The club's latest debutant Presley Cassell has enjoyed a great season in the competition as he leads the Leeds try scoring with seven. Jack Sinfield has also impressed with 28 goals and 68 points in four Reserves appearances, plus Under-18s stars Marcus Qareqare, Joe Diskin, Harley Thomas, Zak Lloyd and George Brown have all been regular scorers.
The Tigers got their standout win of the season at the start of August as they came away from the Totally Wicked Stadium with a surprise 30-22 result, boosting them into seventh place in the table heading into their final outing of 2025.
Scott Murrell's side have been inconsistent over the year, starting with a big win over Salford before losing their next five against Wakefield, Hull FC, Leigh, Huddersfield and Hull KR. A 28-22 result away against Bradford got the club back on track as they managed to edge past neighbours Wakefield (between losses to Wigan and Warrington) before coming away from St Helens with an impressive win.
Saturday gives the Tigers a chance to finish the season on a high as they take on the high-flying Rhinos, although form isn't on their side as they are yet to beat Leeds in the Reserves competition.
